First Image From Marvel’s New Short ‘Item 47’

THE AVENGERS Blu-ray and DVD release will continue Marvel’s trend of releasing short films alongside a main feature. ITEM 47 follows previous shorts A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THOR’S HAMMER and THE CONSULTANT, included on THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA’s home releases respectively.

ITEM 47 will be a spin-off of sorts and follow the aftermath of the climatic battle that closed THE AVENGERS. A hard-luck couple stumble upon an alien weapon in the wreckage of New York and use the technology to begin their own crime-spree. However, two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents set out to capture the pair and get the gun.

Maximiliano Hernández is returning from appearances in THOR and THE AVENGERS as Agent Sitwell alongside THE TOWN’s Titus Welliver. It’s assumed the pair will battle it out off-screen for the title of Greatest Name Ever.

MEAN GIRLS’ Lizzy Caplan and BRING IT ON’s Jesse Bradford are portraying the would-be Bonnie and Clyde. (Yes, they’ve appeared in much more since their rom-com days but I love me some Janis Ian-Dyke).

Marvel is aiming to include a new short alongside all future home releases and scripts are currently being prepped for IRON MAN 3, THOR 2, and CAPTAIN AMERICA 2. It’s also rumoured that the studio is considering using these shorts as a platform to introduce new superheroes…

ITEM 47 will debut at Comic-Con this month and feature on THE AVENGERS Blu-ray and DVD releases which go on sale 17th September 2012. Check out Lizzy Caplan getting her gun below:
