Marvel’s Mystery Movie Changes Release Date

Earlier this week we reported on the date set aside for an unnamed Marvel picture. Now it appears that Marvel have changed that date from 16th May 2014 to 1st August 2014. No word on why they have made this change, but with CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 scheduled for 4th April 2014, pehaps they just wanted a larger gap between two big releases. Rumours are still going strong that the mystery film is going to be GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and will see them fighting Thanos. For those of you wishing to keep your diaries clear, here is how Marvel’s schedule looks right now.

3rd May 2013: IRON MAN 3

8th November 2013: THOR 2

4th April 2014: CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

1st August 2014: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY(????)

AVENGERS 2 will probably be set for a 2015 release date, and Marvel are also developing BLACK PANTHER, DOCTOR STRANGE and ANT-MAN films.

I’m still not entirely convinced that the mystery movie will be GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. It’s an unknown product which will have a huge budget due to its space setting. Time will tell, but perhaps even Marvel don’t know what film is yet to fill that slot and are waiting on seeing some footage, such as the test footage Edgar Wright shot for ANT-MAN earlier this month.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
