If you need a little cheering up on this rainy Friday afternoon, read on! We have the brand new poster for upcoming Sundance favourite HELLO I MUST BE GOING, starring sassy sitcom star Melanie Lynskey. Oh, did I mention she’s swimming…naked.
Lynskey stars as Amy Minsky, a 30-something divorcee who has to move back in with her parents after her split. Anyone who goes through this normally tries to move on, find someone else and change for the better. Not Amy! As she moves back into her teenage bedroom, she manages to transform back into teenage life (even though she’s 35) – including falling in love with 19 year-old Jeremy (played by Christopher Abbott (MARTHA MARCY MAE MARLENE)). As their parents are friends and business partners, Amy and Jeremy have to keep their relationship a secret, which involves kissing in cupboards and skinny-dipping at night time. Add in the fact that Jeremy’s parents believe he is gay and the laughs will keep coming.
The plot may sound ‘old hat’ but with Lynskey as the star this could be brilliant. Lynskey is known most famously as Charlie Sheen’s stalker, Rose, in TWO AND A HALF MEN but you may also know her from roles in THE L WORD, HOUSE and UP IN THE AIR. Already proving that she can be funny, I’ll be in the queue to buy a ticket for this!
HELLO I MUST BE GOING, directed by Todd Louiso and co-starring Blythe Danner, John Rubinstein and Julie White, is due for a US release from 7th September. It is currently awaiting a UK release date.
