Anthony Hopkins To Go Biblical For Aronofsky’s Noah

The cast of Darren Aronofsky’s forthcoming religious epic NOAH appears to be almost complete. We already know Russell Crowe will be building the Ark before the floods arrive (as the title character). Now we understand everyone’s favourite cannibal, Anthony Hopkins, will take the role of Methuselah, the grandfather of Crowe’s bearded, boat-building animal saviour, whose thought to be almost 1000-years-old (the character, not Hopkins of course).

Hopkins joins the cast that also includes Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Emma Watson. The news comes from Aronofsky himself via his Twitter account. Shooting on the biblical tale will begin later in the year for a release already confirmed for March 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
