Trank Boards Fantastic Four And Slade Exits Daredevil

This title speaks for itself – Fox are at San Diego Comic-Con and have confirmed that Josh Trank will helm their reboot of the FANTASTIC FOUR. The news follows rumours that the CHRONICLE director was in talks for a SPIDER-MAN spin-off feature VENOM, though that will obviously be handled by someone else. Trank’s F4 will follow Tim Story’s poor FANTASTIC FOUR and FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER, and expectations will be high for new version, particularly after CHRONICLE proved both a critical and commercial hit.

In other news, David Slade is now unable to commit to other Fox reboot, DAREDEVIL. The version that would have (maybe) included Josh Hartnett as Matt Murdock will also be left to another director. The HARD CANDY director will have his hands full in bringing the pilot of NBC’s much-anticipated serial killer series HANNIBAL.

So kids, any thoughts on who should take over? Let us know!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
