Attack Of The 50 Foot Cheerleader Poster

What a wonderful morning. Clouds in the sky, rain beating down and some news to cover on Roger Corman’s latest hokey B-Movie ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT CHEERLEADER. Check out Corman’s filmography and you’ll see the man has produced over 400 films. Sure they’re cheap, but they’re also cheerful. Where would we be without the likes of SHARKTOPUS (2010) and PIRANHACONDA (2011)? In a very dire place, that’s where.

ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT CHEERLEADER (I’m never going to tire of writing that title), is Corman’s first foray into 3D film making and is being made for a release via Epix. Corman discussed his latest production, directed by Kevin O’Neill the director of DINOSHARK (2010) and DINOCROC (2004) and the visual effects supervisor on BLADE (1998), at Comic-con.

‘Another cheerleader, seeing how beautiful she’s become, before she’s 50 feet tall, takes the serum herself, becomes more beautiful and our big climax is that two 50 foot cheerleaders battle it out on the football field on homecoming day.  Epix wanted it filmed two ways.  One way is that inadvertently their tops come off during the fight.  And then I wanted another version in which the tops stay on.  I know that we have never filmed a picture with nudity in it for a number of years.  The only thing I can think of is that for a very long time a little nudity above the waist was startling.  Today there is so much nudity on the Internet it’s no longer startling.  For us this is the first time we’ve shot a first topless version because Epix wanted it.’

So it sounds as though we’ll be getting big, bouncy boobs. The poster does exclaim ‘Look At The Size Of Those Pom-Poms.’

ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT CHEERLEADER is released via Epix on 25th August 2012. It stars Sean Young, Treat Williams, Jena Sims and Ted Raimi.
