‘Ice Age 4’ Drifts Into Number One At US Box Office

Another weekend of cinema-going is over and there’s a new number one for our friends in the USA as ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT has shot to the top with estimated takings of $46 million. Elsewhere it was a pretty quiet weekend in terms of new releases, but some films are still doing tremendous business such as TED, which goes past $150 million domestically having taken $22 million on the weekend – a very strong number and more than double number 4 on the lis,t BRAVE, with $10.6 million. Number 2 is unsurprisingly THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN which has now grossed over $200 million in the US and over $500 million worldwide, which should make everyone at Sony very happy indeed, but not quite as happy as Warner Bros, whose MAGIC MIKE went past $90 million on a $7 million budget. Ka-ching, as they might say.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
