Sometimes casting news comes along so exciting of it’s enough to reduce a writer to excited hysterics. In this case, the announcement of the new cast members for GAME OF THRONES season three did just that to me. Thus my article:
OH MY GOD!!!! DAME DIANA RIGG!!! MACKENZIE CROOK!!! CLIVE RUSSELL!!!! THOMAS SANGSTER!!!!! THAT GIRL OUT OF BEING HUMAN! And…wait a minute. PAUL KAYE?!!! WHAT THE HELL?!!!!
OK, joke over. But yes, the creators of GAME OF THRONES have got some cracking actors joining them for season three!
Formerly Ms Emma Peel in THE AVENGERS, Dame Diana Rigg will be swapping cat suits for crowns as Lady Oleanna Tyrell, better known as the Queen of Thorns. Mackenzie Crook, no stranger to top-class fantasy after stints in both PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and the BBC’s MERLIN, plays Orell.
Joining them are comedian Paul Kaye (otherwise known as Dennis Pennis) as Thoros Of Myr; Tara Fitzgerald (WAKING THE DEAD) as Selyse Baratheon; Clive Russell (SHERLOCK HOLMES) as Bryndon “The Blackfish” Tully;?Kerry Ingram, (MATILDA THE MUSICAL) as Shireen Baratheon;?Thomas Brodie-Sangster (LOVE ACTUALLY) as Jojen Reed;?Ellie Kendirck (BEING HUMAN) as Meera Reed; Richard Dormer (the upcoming GOOD VIBRATIONS) as Beric Dondarrion;?Nathalie Emannuel (HOLLYOAKS) as Missandei?;Tobias Menzies (CASINO ROYALE, ROME) as Edmure Tully;?Anton Lesser (PRIMEVAL) as Qyburn;?Philip McGinley (CORONATION STREET, PROMETHEUS) as Anguy; and?Kristofer Hivju (THE THING) as Tormund Giantsbane.

GAME OF THRONES season three is expected April 2013.
From an early age, Matt Dennis dreamt of one day becoming a Power Ranger. Having achieved that dream back in the noughties, he’s now turned his hand to journalism and broadcasting. Matt can often be found in front of a TV screen, watching his current favourite shows such as DOCTOR WHO, GAME OF THRONES, SHERLOCK, DAREDEVIL, and THE WALKING DEAD, though he’s partial to a bit of vintage TV from yesteryear.
Matt also co-presents the Geek Cubed podcast, which you can download from iTunes. It’s quite nice.

Does this mean we will be seeing the red wedding and the aftermath. Exciting Beric Dondarrian definitely an interesting character. Can’t wait.

I’m not far into the Books at the moment, so I dont know exactly who or what the Red Wedding involves (though I am aware that s**t goes down at the Red Wedding). As far as I know, Benioff & Weiss have said in interviews that theres an event from Storm of Swords that convinced them to make the show in the first place, and that that moment will be in Season Three. Me suspects that the Red Wedding is that event!
