The Dark Knight Rises Fanboys Need A Life. Stat!

I’m not talking about your average fan – I’m one of those. I simply can’t wait to see the film. I’m talking about the fans that have made death threats towards critics giving THE DARK KNIGHT RISES poor reviews. It’s absolutely insane how some people have reacted to the fact that their beloved film – which I’m guessing many of these fans are yet to see – is not praised by all. This has led Warner Bros to close down user comments on their site Rottentomatoes.com. This finds Warner Bros in a strange position, as they are also the owners and producers of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

The site’s editor-in-chief, Matt Atchity had this to say:

‘It just got to be too much hate.We may do away with comments completely or get to a place where comments are only activated after a movie opens.’

It’s great that people can be so passionate about film, but when you start threatening the lives of people because they have a different opinion, you probably need to take a one way trip to Arkham Asylum. The only negative reviews that deserve a death threat are those that deny the brilliance of S.W.A.T. (2003) – that film is the bomb.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is released 20th July 2012. It stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

Huh? What am I talking about? What are YOU talking about? The film has been seen by thousands of people at press screenings and premières around the world. This is how critics are able to write reviews BEFORE a general release. Rotten Tomatoes has 134 reviews already, and 18 of those are negative. We’re not making up a story here.
