Superman To Tear The House Down In The Man Of Steel?

A rumour has surfaced about a specific action sequence in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman feature, THE MAN OF STEEL.

This is a tiny bit Spoilery, but not regarding the plot. And only if it is true.

Well, you know Rich Johnston off of Bleeding Cool? Well, he was at San Diego Comic Con and he bumped into someone with good connections who said they’d seen some footage out of the new Superman film. WELL,  here’s what Rick had to say;

‘I have been told details of one specific scene in particular, in which Superman breaks apart a building and uses the building itself as a weapon in some kind of ‘super martial art’ fashion. “Girders as throwing stars” was the specific example I was given.’

Come on, that does indeed sound bleeding cool. Superman tearing a building up and chucking around girders like ninja throwing stars? I mean, I quite liked SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006) but it did sorely lack that kind of spectacle. And say what you like about SUCKER PUNCH, but there ain’t no denying, Snyder has visual flair.

Nobody quite knows what to make of the new Superman film, but it’s likely the first trailer will be attached to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES,  so we will soon get our first taste of THE MAN OF STEEL (and we could all use a little more iron in our diet. Boom!)

It stars Henry Cavill Superman, Amy Adams as prize journalist Lois Lane and Laurence Fishburne as The Daily Planet’s editor-in-chief, Perry White. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner feature as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan, while Michael Shannon will be assuming the iconic role of General Zod, made famous in SUPERMAN II by the regal and contemptuous Terence Stamp. Zod’s cohort Faora is played by Antje Traue and Superman’s father, Jor-El, is portrayed by Russell ‘Have-A-Phone-In-The-Mush’ Crowe.

THE MAN OF STEEL will be flying into multiplexes on the 14th of June, 2013.
