I, like many people, love a quirky indie comedy. So when I heard about the Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris-directed newbie RUBY SPARKS, I was more than excited. Today pushes that excitement a little further as some new images have been released from the set, giving us a closer look at the characters.
Paul Dano (who previously worked with Dayton and Faris on LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE) stars as Calvin, a young writer who’s feeling a little lost for words. After some brainstorming, Calvin writes a short description of a girl named Ruby (Zoe Kazan). When he wakes in the morning, who does he find sitting on his sofa but Ruby herself. With a supporting cast featuring Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas, Steve Coogan, Elliot Gould, Deborah Anne Woll and Alia Shawkat, I’ll be first in line for a ticket.
The film was released in the US on Friday, so it would’ve been shadowed by the enormous figure that is THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. However, the film is due for a UK release from 12th October. See you in the queue!
