‘The Dark Knight Rises’ To Third In All-Time US Openings

On a weekend befallen with tragedy in Colorado this article seems unimportant and in truth a little inappropriate. The loss of 12 lives as a result of a sickened individual’s actions has helped to put everything movie related into perspective and we at THN again pass our sincere condolences to those affected by the weekends events.

As expected in the US Box Office THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has taken the top spot and is now, according to estimates, the biggest opening non-3D film of all-time taking $160 million. This puts it behind only THE AVENGERS and HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 in the list for biggest ever opening weekends in the US. As a mark of respect the complete top 10 has been held back and no official figures have yet been released for this saddest of weekends.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
