Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins is starring as legendary director Alfred Hitchcock in upcoming biopic HITCHCOCK. The film will follow the making of PSYCHO (1960), and Hitchcock’s romance with his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren). Sacha Gervasi is directing, a strange choice being that his only previous work as a director was for the rockumentary ANVIL: THE STORY OF ANVIL (2008). I’m sure he will be able to walk the fine line between fact and fiction. Although Hopkins isn’t exactly a dead ringer for Hitchcock, this didn’t stop him giving a triumphant performance as Richard Nixon in Oliver Stone’s NIXON (1995).
HITCHCOCK is to be released early in 2013. It stars Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, James D’Arcy, and Danny Huston.
