Chuck Norris Doesn’t Get His Way?!?! Expendables 2 Rated R

THE EXPENDABLES 2 is now officially rate R. It’s the kind of news that could finally derail the dated, and frankly frustrating, internet meme concerning Chuck Norris and all his ‘power’. At the beginning of this year Norris stated that THE EXPENDABLES 2 would be a PG-13 because of him. Speaking to a Polish paper Gazeta, he said:

In EXPENDABLES 2 there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. Fot this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this. Due to that I said I won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13.

So bad language was a problem but violence wasn’t? Well it seems he should have considered the violence if he truly wanted a PG-13 film as THE EXPENDABLES 2 finally received an MPAA rating of R for strong action and bloody violence throughout, and for some language.

This makes me very happy indeed. Not because violence necessarily makes a film, but when harking back to the 80s style action films, we need a bit of blood and guts. I’m tired of PG-13 films cutting away during action sequences. It breaks the pacing and intensity.

THE EXPENDABLES 2 is released 16th August. It stars (Deep Breath) Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Liam Hemsworth, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, and Randy Couture.
