Bad Robot To Produce Earthquake

These last few years, we’ve had enough spandex-clad superheroes to last a lifetime. Surely it’s time for another blockbuster genre to have a crack at the summer season. Fortunately, it seems the disaster movie is making a comeback, with numerous earthquake-based projects currently in the works.

We already know about Eli Roth and Nicólas López’s AFTERSHOCK and SAN ANDREAS 3D, but reports have surfaced that JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot is reviving its earthquake project… erm, EARTHQUAKE, which has apparently been on the slate since 2008.

Never one to shy away from dishing out some good old fashioned cinematic carnage, Abrams has boughy MILK screenwriter Dustin Lance Black on board for plot duties. In true Bad Robot fashion, expect plenty of secrecy, and a tantalizing viral campaign when the movie nears release.

The project is reportedly not a remake of the 1974 Charlton Heston-starring EARTHQUAKE, which makes a nice change. Cracking.
