Mickey Rourke In Talks For ‘Sin City 2’ And ‘Motor City’

It’s been seven long years of rumours and pre-production talk, but now it looks as though SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is finally gaining some momentum. Mickey Rourke will reprise his role as Marv, the bad-ass with a soft spot for blonde hookers. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will be comprised of the book ‘A Dame To Kill For’, as well as a number of short stories and a brand new story focusing on Jessica Alba’s character Nancy trying to cope after the events of the first film. Although Dwight, Clive Owen’s character from the first film, is the main protagonist of A Dame To Kill For, he does mention having a ‘new face’ in SIN CITY so perhaps he will be played by a different actor.

Mickey Rourke is also being rumoured for an outing to another city in MOTOR CITY. In this film Gerard Butler plays a man seeking revenge on those that framed him for a crime he didn’t commit. The film has been around for awhile, making the 2009 Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. Butler has been attached for some time, but they are having problems keeping a co-star with Dominic Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal both leaving the project and Jeremy Renner turning it down.

I’m always excited to see Mickey Rourke in anything and SIN CITY is what brought him back to the big time. I think he needs this after a few reports of him returning to his old ways, such as leaving Martin McDonagh’s SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS and then calling the director a ‘Jerkoff’. Please don’t piss people in the movie industry off again Mr.Rourke, we love you.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is set for release 4th October 2013.
