Keanu Reeves has revealed some plot details on the potential BILL & TED 3.
The One has been rather quiet of late. With only four films in the last six years and his latest, GENERATION UM, yet to see the light of day, he has migrated his work to Eastern Asia. His next project is 47 RONIN, a samurai revenge tale set in 18th century Japan and he is currently filming MAN OF TAI-CHI, his directorial debut. He has also completed SIDE BY SIDE, a documentary about the the history of photochemical and digital film in movie making. Many fans will be delighted to see Reeves returning to his Neo-esque kick-assery, but there is an even greater return on the horizon. That of WYLD STALLYNS!!
Bill and Ted are set to rock for the first time since their BOGUS JOURNEY in 1991, which is six years before Chloe Moretz even existed! That is how we measure time here at THN.
We recently reported that the untitled BILL & TED threequel has a director. But now Reeves, who played ‘Ted’ Theodore Logan alongside Alex Winter’s ‘Bill’ S. Preston Esq. has revealed some narrative details. Here’s what the star had to say, in his own wonderful ‘Whoa!’ kinda way;
‘One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven’t done it. So everybody is kind of like: “Where is the song?” The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock. And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future “us” refuses to tell us, and another future “us” blames us for their lives because we didn’t write the song, so they’re living this terrible life. In one version we’re in jail; in another we’re at some kind of highway motel and they hate us.’
We’re very glad to see that time travel is still an essential ingredient in this rock recipe. But let us not get out the air-guitars just yet, as he also said, ‘We have a nice story. We’ll see if anyone else wants to make it.’ So the film is yet to get a buyer, production company etc. However, unlike GHOSTBUSTERS 3, about which we are all still on the fence, the world wants… NEEDS BILL & TED 3. For as Abraham Lincoln once said, ‘These two great gentlemen are dedicated to a proposition which was true in my time, just as it’s true today. Be excellent to each other. And… PARTY ON, DUDES!’
