Trailer And Poster Suggest ‘The Letter’ Needs To Be Rewritten

It looks as though James Franco is working for extra credit as he stars in this trailer for THE LETTER which is directed by one of his teachers, Jay Anania, who is in charge of the directing programme at the graduate film school of New York University. They previously worked together on the simply awful SHADOWS AND LIES also known as WILLIAM VINCENT. THE LETTER also managed to grab Winona Ryder as a playwright suffering from paranoia, or are they actually out to get her?

The trailer looks awful in every sense of the word. It looks very amateurish and the editing is simply confusing. I don’t really know what is going on, but worst of all for a trailer, I just don’t care. It’s obvious the film has a low budget but the inclusion of big name stars actually makes it look even cheaper as we are familiar with how they ‘should’ look on film. It also doesn’t help when you hear these stars delivering such painful dialogue.

THE LETTER doesn’t have an official release date, but will probably hit some festivals and be released On Demand. It stars James Franco and Winona Ryder.
