Carnahan’s ‘Daredevil’ Sizzle Reels Released & Rights To Revert To Marvel

After Fox declined Joe Carnahan’s take on DAREDEVIL he took to Twitter to release his sizzle reels. For those of you that don’t know, a sizzle reel is pretty much a compilation of stock footage, music, comic panels, and anything else used to create a sort of trailer without having to film anything. They are mainly used in pitches to try and capture the mood of what the film will be like.

In the case of Joe Carnahan’s DAREDEVIL, it was all looking so good. Carnahan was obviously going for a 70s themed, exploitation route for the character. It may not have impressed Fox, but he certainly has my vote. It’s not all doom and gloom though, if Fox don’t start production by October then the rights will revert back to Marvel and I hope they are taking note of the positive reaction to this sizzle reel.

I say Marvel needs to take this idea and set it in the 70s. That way it wont interfere with their Marvel Phase 2 set of films. It should also include an afro-sporting young Nick Fury and go for an NC-17 rating. Oh please let this happen!

Here are the PG-13 and NC-17 versions of Joe Carnahan’s sizzle reels, and boy do they sizzle.
