BBC America’s trailer for the new season of DOCTOR WHO, which premieres on the 1st September, is more of a focus on Amy and the Doctor’s story with Rory somewhere in the background as usual. Here we see clips from the first three episodes that so far are being shown as the main attractions of new series: ‘Dalek Asylum’, ‘Dinosaurs on a Spaceship’, and ‘A Town Called Mercy’ which will premiere in that order. This lunchtime, they also throw in a shot or two of the weeping angels to keep us on our toes, not to mention that now-famous Matt Smith humour to cap it off. Head honcho, as he likes to be called, Steven Moffat had this to say:
“We have, I think, our biggest range of stories ever; We’ve got the return of the Daleks and the Weeping Angels – both of them poll-topping Doctor Who adversaries – in cracking new stories, we’ve got Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (it’s what you’ve always wanted), we’ve got a glorious western with a Cyborg Gunslinger, the most unusual invasion Earth story ever, and location shooting in New York for the Pond finale.”
The Daleks returning seems the most interesting thing because the ones shown in the trailer are the not the multi-coloured Moffat machines, but Russell T Davies ‘impure’ pepper pots from hell. It creates some new exciting possibilities if there are two species in existence. The phrase ‘there can only be one’ springs to mind. Perhaps a Dalek war is on the way in the coming seasons? It was hinted to be a possibility in the Doctor Who Experience in London, so who knows?
Stick with us for your next update on the Doctor and Amy, it’s also great to know that DOCTOR WHO has been confirmed to begin on the good ole BBC on September 1st.
