‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Series Is On Its Way

Eddie Murphy has had more downs than ups of late, and with constant talk of a BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 it appears that Murphy is going to stick to the TV show idea that has been kicking around for a while. Murphy has teamed up with Shawn Ryan, the man who worked as showrunner for THE SHIELD. They will be working with Sony Pictures Television and Eddie Murphy will be reprising his role as Axel Foley for the pilot and may reappear here and there throughout the series. The show will focus on Foley’s son who is following in his father’s footsteps (who is now chief of police).

With the never ending parade of cop shows it’s kind of hard to get excited about another one, even if it is based on BEVERLY HILLS COP. At least this will be a follow-up and not a remake. It will be fun to see Murphy as the character again, but it’s been nearly 20 years since the last installment. The show may be able to get a good start with Murphy in the pilot, but will the rest of the cast be able to keep our interest?
