Jennifer Lawrence Discusses ‘House At The End Of The Street’ In Featurette & Clip

With a successful year behind her her, thanks to THE HUNGER GAMES, Jennifer Lawrence is going to end the year with a little horror called HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET, or HATES as it is being shortened to. It sees a family move into a house on a street with a seedy past. As a young romance blossoms between Lawrence and Max Thieriot, but she is soon warned to stay away from him. This latest featurette has Lawrence discussing the relationship between the two protagonists. It’s nice to see the focus on the relationship rather than the actual horror elements, but will this translate into the film or is it just some ‘actor talk’?

The clip has me less enthused about the project. Sudden cuts to what is going on outside, with a camera that can’t keep still and constant flickering just seems to be trying too hard. Those techniques are completely unnecessary and don’t add anything to the scene. It would be scarier to just have a noise at the door. It then goes for the classic fake-out jump scare.

HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET is released 21st September 2012. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot, Elisabeth Shue, Nolan Gerard Funk, Gil Bellows, and Krista Bridges.
