Legendary director John Boorman is currently preparing a sequel to his memorable semi-autobiographical film HOPE & GLORY from 1987, entitled QUEEN & COUNTRY. It also appears he’s looking at X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and CONTRABAND’s rising young star Caleb Landry Jones for the role of Bill Rowan (previously played by Sebastian Rice-Edwards). The original film told of the young boy’s harrowing-yet-heartfelt childhood growing-up in London during the blitz of World War II. The sequel will pick up the story with Bill in his late teens.
It has been 6 years since Boorman’s last effort, the dark drama THE TIGER’S TALE but with an iconic cinematic legacy that includes classics POINT BLANK (1967), DELIVERANCE (1972), THE EMERALD FOREST (1985) and THE GENERAL (1998), it will be great to see him back behind the camera.
