If the cast and crew of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY wasn’t star-packed enough already, The Weinstein Co. have announced that yet another big-hitter is to join them, in the form of Ewan McGregor.
Based on the Tracy Letts-written Tony- and Pulitzer- prize winning play, McGregor joins Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Abigail Breslin, who portray three generations of women who reconvene to try and fix their splintered family. McGregor’s character will be Bill Fordham, the estranged husband of Roberts’ (and Streep’s ex son-in-law). Fordham is a university professor and ends up leaving his wife for one of his students – very naughty indeed!
The foursome are accompanied by Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Cooper, Dermot Mulroney, Sam Shepard and Margo Martindale. If the cast list doesn’t tickle your fancy, then how about this: Mr Silver Fox himself aka George Clooney is set to be one of the producers on the film, making sure everyone is kept in-line.
With the likes of Streep, Roberts and McGregor going toe-to-toe, this could be one hell of an emotional rollercoaster.
