Park Chan Wook To Direct ‘Corsica 72’

Last month we reported that Park Chan Wook was in talks to direct the Black List THE BRIGANDS OF RATTLEBORG. Now it looks as though he will be taking on another Black List script before that, as he is now rumoured to be directing CORSICA 72, a crime drama set in the 1930s. CORSICA 72 is scripted by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the writers of upcoming James Bond flick, SKYFALL and four other Bond films. It is based on a true story of two childhood friends that take very different paths in life, with one falling into a life of crime and the other becoming a respected business man. The film will be set on the small island of Corsica and finds the friendship between the two men shaken after a woman comes between them.

CORSICA 72 is being produced by 1984 Private Defense Contractors and Ruby Films. Adi Shankar of 1984 Private Defense Contractors had this to say about working with Park:

Having spent the majority of my life in Southeast Asia I have been a fan of director park my whole life. Where I’m from it doesn’t get any better than Park Chan Wook.

Parl Chan Wook has already proved himself as an incredible talent, but his English language debut, STOKER, which is yet to be released must be generating some buzz if other English language options are already being offered.

Park Chan Wook’s next film STOKER is released 1st March 2013. It stars Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney, Matthew Goode, Lucas Till, Jacki Weaver, and Alden Ehrenreich.
