Sony Pictures Looking To Adapt 80s TV Show ‘Manimal’

If you’re unfamiliar with the show MANIMAL from the 1980s, then you have probably lived a very sad and lonely existence. MANIMAL may have been cancelled after just 8 episodes, but that is probably because most people’s tolerance for awesome had a much lower threshold back then. Unfortunately the revival of MANIMAL may be a bit of a double-edged sword, as it is Sony Pictures Animation that are looking to bring MANIMAL to cinematic life as a live action/animation hybrid in the style of SMURFS or their upcoming ALF.

MANIMAL sees a crime fighter by the name of Jonathan Chase that can change into any animal at will. Personally I hope they take a comedic route for the film, such as 21 JUMP STREET. In fact, I would love to see Channing Tatum in the role, and with his current successful working relationship with Sony that may be possible.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
