Rumours fly around Hollywood faster than Superman had to fly around the Earth in order to turn back time. So since Seth MacFarlane, the creator of FAMILY GUY and recent comedy smash TED, was seen in New York with his TED writing partners Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. That can only mean a TED sequel right? The film in which Mark Wahlberg brings his teddy bear to life as a child and they grow up together has been a surprise R-rated juggernaut. All MacFarlane would say on the possibility of a sequel is:
We’re thinking about it.
While NBC Universal CEO, Steve Burke was quoted as saying:
We’d like to see a TED 2 as soon as we can.
Well of course they would, it’s made over $400 million at the worldwide box-office. I just hope that they’ll wait until MacFarlane is absolutely ready and has a brilliant script before forcing a retread of the first film. I want something original.
TED is released on DVD and Blu-ray on 26th November 2012. Details can be found here.
