Movie Website To Finance Actual Movie

No, not us. Not yet. We’ve barely got the window to throw the proverbial piss out of, but our friends over at Joblo.com in Montreal, Canada have managed to get the money together to fund a movie in its entirety. 100! Having previously co-financed the 2006 flick DEADEN, the site will throw a wad of cash at a projetc that is entitled BILLY TRIGGER. It’s scripted by the site’s Arrow In The Head editor John Fallon and will be directed by Christian Viel, who also directed the aforementioned DEADEN.

According to the info sent to me late yesterday by Joblo himself (aka Berge Garabedian), principal photography will begin in mid-October, with JCB Productions and Movie Seals Productions producing.

Iconic American actor Fred Williamson will play ‘Pops’ in the film, the leader of an Irish mob which employs Billy Trigger, the hitman played by John Fallon, who is also co-producing the film. Joining them are Matthew Bennett playing ‘Bruno’ the expert assassin, as well as Pia Metni who will portray ‘Catherine’, the lead actress and love interest in the film.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Irish mobster Billy Trigger has been the O’Brien family’s number one enforcer for three years now. And for good reason: he is cold, calculating and relentless and has never tackled a job he couldn’t finish. His life is trouble-free and solitary and consists mainly of three things: loose women, doing the work and cashing in. That’s until Pops, the head of the organization, hands him his next assignment. Trigger is tasked to look over Pops’ young mistress, Catherine, while he’s away. Of course, nothing goes as planned and Trigger ends up on the wrong side of Pops’ esteem… What happens when the best in the business is pitted against the business? Place your bets!

Garabedian is “extremely excited to be a part of this creative team and I look forward to working with all these talented individuals on this very awesome production.”

I wish the boys over there the best of luck with the project. Joblo.com was one of the inspirations behind THN when I first set things rolling all of the way back in 2003, and I personally couldn’t be happier for them. Nice one guys.

The flick even has a teaser poster. Check it out below.

BILLY TRIGGER will be released in the spring/ summer of 2013.
