Reports have come in confirming that family-friendly production company – Waterman Entertainment – has picked up the rights to the 1960s sitcom MR ED. Originally starring Alan Young (the voice of Scrooge McDuck) as Wilbur Post, the show focused on Post and his talking horse, Mr Ed.
Since the technological advancements of animal animation (most recently: RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES), the idea of transforming MR ED into a part live-action/part animated film has been at the top of Waterman’s list. The company, run by Steve and his sons Cooper and Tucker, has had a part to play in other animal ‘comedy classics’ such as STUART LITTLE, CASPER (although that was a ghost…) and ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, and are on the look-out for other franchises to join their company. When asked about the film (and its possible production), Cooper has said:
‘We are identifying properties that have had success with multiple generations of parents who feel comfortable and have excitement about reintroducing the characters and storylines to their own kids and grandkids.’
Waterman Entertainment has also acquired the rights to THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER, which they are planning a CGI/live-action reboot for.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
