Director and producer Oren Pelli has a lot to answer for. While his original PARANORMAL ACTIVITY film contained a few frights, it was really nothing we hadn’t seen in the found-footage and horror genre before. After the success of that indie offering we’ve seen a slew of sequels, spin-offs, rip-offs and imitators flood our cinemas to capitalise on the cheap (and often tacky) way of filmmaking and let’s be honest, they’re all pretty much the same.
I, for one, am sick and tired of seeing the same kind of story pieced together using supposed webcams, CCTV and camcorders with no real understanding of why the character feels the need to do such things. To myself, it’s lazy and was only ever done to great effect with Sarah Greene, Mike Smith and Michael Parkinson on GHOSTWATCH… ask your parents kids, they’ll know! Anyway, we do have the new full length trailer for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4, or rather bore…
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 hits cinemas 17th October and stars Katie Featherstone, Kathryn Newton, Brady Allen and Matt Shively. Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman direct again.
