Cyndi Lauper said it best in her song about female empowerment and unstoppable violence. Two months ago a female version of THE EXPENDABLES was announced, and just last month obvious choice Gina Carano was announced to have a role. Now sci-fi star Katee Sackhoff has signed on for a role. Most famous for her role as Starbuck in the greatest show ever BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, she has a number of interesting films lined up including THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK sequel. Sackhoff will also be shedding her sci-fi roots for a go at some horror including THE HAUNTING IN GEORGIA and OCULUS, which stars another sci-fi legend Karen Gillan.
There is still no word on any plot details for the ladies version of THE EXPENDABLES, nor is there a title. Producer Adi Shankar is certainly excited about the inclusion of Sackhoff:
If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars.
I’m now officially interested in the project as I love seeing the cast of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA in anything, but we are still waiting for the all important classic action woman to be cast. Will we get to see a Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, or Grace Jones? Let’s hope so.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
