Unfortunately the Bryan Fuller envisioned remake of THE MUNSTERS, titled MOCKINGBIRD LANE wasn’t picked up as a new series. However, the pilot episode is going to be shown as a Halloween special on NBC in a few weeks. Bryan Fuller was the creator of PUSHING DAISIES, a great cult show that was criminally cut short. The mixture of humour, fantasy, and romance, would have been perfect for a show centering on a family of beastly (but gentle) monsters trying to make it in the real world. Jerry O’Connell plays Herman Munster, with toned down but still effective make-up, Eddie Izzard is the vampiric Grandpa, and Portia de Rossi is Herman’s wife Lily. The Halloween special is directed by Bryan Singer and will be shown on NBC on 26th October. Hopefully we’ll see it in the UK too.
