Jim Carrey may be currently filming for KICK-ASS 2, but he also has to think about the future. Carrey is currently in negotiations to star in a comedy based on a true story, titled LOOMIS FARGO. The film will see four dimwitted men manage to rob $17 million from an armoured van. Carrey would play the role of the gang’s leader, Dave Ghant. Produced by Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn, Relativity Media is currently looking to acquire the rights. Jared Hess of NAPOLEON DYNAMITE (2004) and NACHO LIBRE (2006) fame is set to direct, from a script that has made the rounds and has constantly been rewritten. Writers that have worked on the project so far include Emily Spivey, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer, so let’s hope they’ve squeezed out a few jokes between them.
I’m looking forward to this and Carrey seems to be making some great choices of late. Perhaps he’s realised that his family/youth centred comedies are in the past for him and it’s time to grow up. Not that that means he has to stop being crazy mad bonkers.
KICK ASS 2 is released 19th July 2013. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicolas Cage, Donald Faison, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, and Jim Carrey.
