Those waiting for another trip to Middle-earth have only a few more months until the release of Peter Jackson’s long-awaited THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. As the first instalment in a prequel trilogy, we’ll finally see Bilbo Baggins’ early adventures, including numerous brushes with future LORD OF THE RINGS players, such as Galdalf (Ian McKellen), Gollum (Andy Serkis), Saruman (Christopher Lee) and Elrond (Hugo Weaving).
One hero returning is Elijah Wood, who’ll reprise his LOTR role of Frodo in the introduction (so we believe), with Ian Holm (as older Bilbo) recalling his legendary journey to battle evil dragon Smaug to his young nephew.
We have a number of new stills including the first look at the seemingly never-aging Wood. Martin Freeman headlines as the young Bilbo in the first epic prequel tale slated for cinemas 14th December.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
