‘Skyfall’ Launches Viral Site

The 23rd Bond film, SKYFALL, is almost upon us and the marketing campaign has kicked itself up a notch (BAM!) with a new viral site. The site contains an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) and the first step is to get identified and enter the main site. To do so, you only need to say ‘God Save the Queen’ into the microphone…or if your laptop mic is a bad as mine is, you can open the web console and write ‘setCookie()’ instead and it should work…hopefully that might spare some people from sitting and saying ‘God Save the Queen’ over and over again for 10 minutes straight like a crazy person without anything happening like I did. Once inside, you’ll get a MI6 exam to test out whether you are good enough to join. You have to guide an agent through 5 seperate, difficult tasks under pressure in the field. Right now it’s still unclear what will happen once you complete it, but give it a go and let us know in the comments how far you get. If you want to give it a go, the link is right HERE.

I can’t help but love viral campaigns, and I have ever since The Dark Knight’s brilliant one. It adds another small dimension to a film that I’m already extremely excited to see and it does so without revealing too much.

SKYFALL is directed by Sam Mendes. It stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe & Helen McCrory. It opens in UK cinemas 26th October 2012.

Esben Evans is the Danish contingent on this site. He enjoys films, swearing a lot, and a nice pair of slacks.
