Another franchise favourite is looking to get the green light with word that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is set to shoot next summer minus lead Bill Murray. We’ve reported over the last year that a script by THE OFFICE’s regular writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg had not impressed the sour-faced funny man, going so far to call it crap and eventually saw co-star/creator Dan Ackroyd desperately trying to fix things by hiring Etan Cohen for rewrites, to tempt Murray back to strap on a proton pack as Dr. Peter Venkman.
GHOSTBUSTERS 3 will now move forward without Murray but it appears Ivan Reitman will return to direct the threequel for summer 2013, that will see (part of) the team reform to pass the mantle to a younger generation of spook hunters. Harold Ramis’ Egon Spengler and Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zedmore are both expected to return alongside Ackroyd.
The new sequel is expected to hit cinemas around the 30th Anniversary date during summer 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
