According to recent reports, Warner Bros. are a bit concerned with the shooting of MAD MAX: FURY ROAD. The shoot is apparently not only going over budget, but is also about a week behind in its shooting schedule. The film is scheduled to wrap up its filming by the end of November, but Warner Bros. have now sent producer Denise Di Novi (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE) on location in Namibia to oversee the remainder of the shoot. The synopsis for the film is as follows:
“Mad Max: Fury Road”–the fourth in the franchise’s history–stars Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) in the title role of Max Rockatansky, alongside Oscar(R) winner Charlize Theron (“Monster”, “Prometheus”) as Imperator Furiosa.
According to Miller, “Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.”
This isn’t the time to go into full blown panic mode yet. The brilliant cast, the fact that original director George Miller is on board as well as the set pics that we’ve brought you here in the past, all still add up to what could be a great film. Of course it’s a concern that the studio appears to be more hands on now (since that is rarely a good thing) but I think it’s still more concerning that Miller’s last live action film was BABE: PIG IN THE CITY.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is directed by George Miller. It stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. It is scheduled to arrive in UK cinemas sometime in 2013.
