Stephen Colbert To Cameo In The Hobbit

Not every fanboy (or girl) get the opportunity to appear in a film adaptation of their favourite novel. So when a source recently confirmed that Stephen Colbert has a cameo appearance in the upcoming THE HOBBIT trilogy, the host of THE COLBERT REPORT was undoubtedly the envy of many dedicated J.R.R. Tolkien fans.

A self-professed LOTR fan who can read Elvish, Colbert played coy in a recent interview with Playboy magazine, dropping only small hints about his appearance — he also kept mum on what role he’d play and which of the three films he’d appear in. All that was officially confirmed was that Colbert had been personally invited to the New Zealand set by director Peter Jackson a few months back. It helps to have friends in high places.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is slated for a 14 December 2012 release date followed by 13 December 2013 for THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and 18 July 2014 for the final chapter, THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN. The much-anticipated trilogy stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis Hugo Weaving and Richard Armitage.
