THE LORD OF THE RINGS star Dominic Monaghan is to star in MOLLY MOON, a movie based on a children’s book series of the same name.
The former hobbit is returning to the fantasy genre when he takes up his new role as a villainous bank robber. The story is based on the book series written by Georgia Byng about an orphan called Molly who discovers a magical book on hypnotism, and Monaghan’s evil character will stop at nothing to try and steal Molly’s hypnotism book and use it for his own despicable plans.
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN’s Raffey Cassidy is set to play the young Molly and Christopher Rowley is to take up the directors chair. Author Byng is to produce, alongside Amber Entertainment’s Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman.
This fantasy adventure is far from Monaghan’s upcoming TV documentary series, WILD THINGS WITH DOMINIC MONAGHAN, but will take him back to his middle earth roots. It will be exciting to see Monaghan take on the antagonist character as he’s probably best known as one of our favourite hobbits, Merry, or as the equally cheeky and loveable Charlie in ABC’s TV series LOST.
However, we’ve no word on a start date yet as Monaghan’s currently busy filming the movie DEEP BURIAL with Tom Sizemore, so we might have to wait a while for further news on MOLLY MOON.
