The idea may sound out there, but after viewing the international trailer below, not to mention the fact I adore Kirsten Dunst, I’m completely sold on the upcoming UPSIDE DOWN that we first covered back at the start of the year. It tells the romantic story of two planets in such close proximity to each other, that people from one planet can literally reach up and touch the people from the other planet. However, they are never allowed to change planets. Needless to say, two of the younger folk on the planets see this as an invitation for a forbidden love affair.
UPSIDE DOWN has just been acquired by Millenium Pictures for a 2D and 3D release sometime in the US sometime in 2013. The film has already been released in Russia, where it did fairly well, but still no word on a UK release. The fact the film is being given a 3D release suggests a lot of faith in the project, and I hope it’s a film that captures the imagination of its audience. With this, CLOUD ATLAS, and LIFE OF PI, are CG effects finally being put to excellent use in terms of story, awe, and originality? We’ll find out soon. Hopefully.
