Letterman and Fallon Run The Show Without an Audience

With hurricane Sandy posing a real threat and orders of evacuation and keeping safe in New York some might be surprised at even the thought of both Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with David Letterman being taped instead of just showing a re-run. However, both men were stubborn the evening that Sandy hit, and got themselves and their crews to the NBC and CBS studios respectively to put on a show. Unfortunately neither of them had an audience, which makes you realise how important those audience laughs are and that jokes just aren’ts as funny without them.

Fallon stuck to his routine and insisted on pretending there was an audience, but got only laughs from his crew, while Letterman changed up the format a little bit. Check out the New Yorker men’s attempt at funny without an audience.
