‘Skyfall’ Pair Set To Create A New Supernatural TV Show

Director Sam Mendes and screenwriter John Logan are both currently enjoying heaps of success with the latest James Bond film, SKYFALL, which has beaten several records and has raked in an impressive almost $300 Million before opening in US theatres.

While John Logan has signed on to write the next two Bond instalments, Sam Mendes seem unlikely to return to the franchise, but that won’t mean that the two won’t work together again as they’re currently shopping around a script for a new supernatural TV show. The show’s premise is described as follows:

An origin story set in the 1800s London in the vein of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which also was set in 19th century Europe, including London, and featured an assortment of fictional literary characters. The Logan/Mendes project features such characters as Van Helsing and Doctor Frankenstein as they hunt for vampires.

The show will be produced by Sam Mendes’ production company, Neal Street Prods. and he will possibly also direct the pilot. I am a sucker for supernatural TV shows and I think this sounds like something that could be promising. The connection with THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN is not that bad as the ideas contained in the graphic novels were quite interesting, the execution was just horribly bland. I think this could work, the question is whether the TV studios want to take a gamble on it.

SKYFALL is directed by Sam Mendes. It stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, and Ben Whishaw. It is out now in UK cinemas.
