US DVD & Blu-Ray – New Release Tuesday

It’s Tuesday which can mean only one thing, new DVD and Blu-Ray day in the US. It would seem silly to ignore the big release of the week, and indeed the one that seems to have scared everyone else off, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

Welcomed with trepidation and a feeling of what could have been, Marc Web’s film managed to gross an incredible $700 million worldwide. Spinning its way onto Blu-ray, DVD and a three-disc combo pack including both along with a digital copy it features a spectacular making of and for the lucky ones there is even a limited edition box set with a 3D Blu-ray, 2 Blu-rays, and the DVD along with some Spider-Man and The Lizard figurines, fanboys rejoice. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is released 9th November.

The afore mentioned scares have limited the first-time releases but there is some damn good stuff available including Fernando Mereilles 360 starring heavyweights Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz, and Jude Law. A multi-stranded tale linking multiple characters it may not measure up to CITY OF GOD or THE CONSTANT GARDENER but 360 is well worth your time. 360 is released today.

From Aardman – the people behind WALLACE AND GROMIT and PIRATES! – comes their first foray into CGI ARTHUR CHRISTMAS. Featuring a leviathan of British talent: Hugh Laurie, James McAvoy, Bill Nighy, and Michael Palin, alongside more international names including Eva Longoria ARTHUR CHRISTMAS is one for the family to enjoy. Arriving a bit too early to keep locked away until christmas, pick up a copy and treat the kids (and yourself). ARTHUR CHRISTMAS is released today.

One for the ladies – and sensitive guys – out there now as YOUR SISTER’S SISTER arrives for you to take home and get drunk with. Just make sure it doesn’t sleep with your sister! YOUR SISTER’S SISTER is released today.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
