Fisher Says She’s Open (Or Should That Be Hoping?) For Star Wars VII Return!

The offices of THN have been giddy with fanboy delight with the confirmation of a new Lucas-less STAR WARS effort, after Disney acquired Lucusfilm from the bearded icon. As much as we loved George for giving us the legendary sci-fi space saga, film and STAR WARS fans have been pig-sick of his tinkering with the beloved original trilogy, then going on to give us Jedis with poxy ponytails, Rastafarian CGI gimps and an Anakin Skywalker as wooden as a pirates’ stump. And don’t get me started on intergalactic bloody trade treaties involving creatures that appear as though they’ve come from a pet store aquarium.

After recent news that Harrison Ford would be open for a return as the iconic Han Solo in the forthcoming film (rumoured to be directed by Matthew Vaughn), another vet is also interested. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) – who has been filling her time since the RETURN OF THE JEDI apparently taking narcotics, writing acclaimed novels, marrying and divorcing midget rock stars, chasing Rik Mayall’s DROP DEAD FRED and the odd cameo on film and TV – is also willing to return.

Here is Fisher’s simple response when asked about a possible return:

‘Yes, sure. Wouldn’t you?’

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
