Here is the first image from the upcoming prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO, titled BATES MOTEL. In it we see Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates, looking much more attractive than she did in the 1960 classic, sat next to Norman Bates played by Freddi Highmore, who now looks completely different. Don’t they just grow up so quickly? I’m going to remain positive on this one, as the sequel PSYCHO II was just as good as the original and PSYCHO III and IV were also fairly decent, considering the brilliance behind the original. However, this isn’t the first time TV has tried a series centred around the Bates Motel. In 1987 there was a TV movie, meant as pilot for a show, where Norman Bates’ old lunatic asylum roommate tried to refurbish and run the motel. That truly was awful.
Showrunner Carlton Cuse has this to say about the upcoming series:
The town itself is very much a character in the show. There are a lot of secrets that lurk beneath this bucolic veneer.
I hope it doesn’t spread out too far, as the isolation of the Bates Motel is what makes is so terrifying. The series is set to premiere next year.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. Do you have this horrible feeling that they’ll base it all around the strange things happening in town…and then something in the Hotel itself in the big finale?
