Susan Boyle: The Movie Is Definitely On The Way

Forget all your talk of STAR WARS, MAN OF STEEL, ROBOCOP etc, this is the movie news of the year so far! Fox Searchlight have acquired the rights to bring a biopic of former Britain’s Got Talent almuni Susan Boyle to the big screen. The planned film will be partly based on the Boyle musical ‘I Dreamed A Dream,’ which started off as a touring production’ in the UK earlier on this year to ‘critical acclaim.’ It hits Australia and the West End of London in 2013, but the film version will not be far behind according to Deadline.

Lucas Webb snapped up the life rights to Susan Boyle, and the project is said to be ‘front and centre’ at the indie arm of Fox. Expect it to go into production once Webb has hired a writer for the film (no one is on board as yet).

Obviously, there is nobody in the frame as yet to play the lead character of Boyle, the middle aged Scot who catapulted to stardom following a rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables on Simon Cowell’s Britain’s Got Talent a few years back, but I’ve already got a suggestion. How about this leading British actress…

Yes, that’s Vera Drake herself Imelda Staunton, and I’m off down the bookies to put a tenner on her right now. For those not familiar with that audition, here it is… just for you. You’re welcome.
