British Legend Dinah Sheridan Passes Away at 92

Dinah Sheridan, who was the star of such silver-screen classics as THE RAILWAY CHILDREN (1970), GENEVIEVE (1953) and 29 ACACIA AVENUE (1945) passed away at the age of 92 peacefully surrounded by her family at her Northwood,  Middlesex home in North London yesterday.

Starting her colourful and rambunctious career with 1937 British comedy FATHER STEPS OUT, Sheridan had many a successful hit at the box office before becoming far more familiar in BBC sitcoms such as DON’T WAIT UP and ALL NIGHT LONG.

A string of difficult relationships included the head of the now defunct Rank Organisation John Davis, A NIGHT TO REMEMBER actor John Merivale and Californian businessman Aubrey Ison. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her but leaves being a lasting legacy.

Dinah was a great friend of my parents Ruby & Maurice Lloyd at the time of my birth in Denham in 1940. She was a frequent visitor to their hotel between 1948 & 1953. When my father reinterred the business worl in 1954 she got my father a job thru her husband John Davis at job at Pearl & Dean for which he was eternally grateful. She will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace.
