Larry Hagman, better known for his role as J.R. Ewing in the show DALLAS, passed away this weekend after a year long battle with cancer and here at THN, we wanted to pay a deserved tribute. The actor, who recently reprised his role as the DALLAS villain, passed away at Medical City in Dallas, Texas and it has been reported that his on screen co stars Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy were by his side alongside loved ones.
While the actor played a bad guy on screen, a joint statement released by Warner Bros TV and executive producers Cynthia Cidre and Michael M. Robin said that Hagman was ‘a larger than life personality’. They also said how much he loved playing the character:
“He truly loved portraying this globally recognized character, and he leaves a legacy of entertainment, generosity and grace. Everyone at Warner Bros and in the Dallas family is deeply saddened by Larry’s passing, and our thoughts are with his family and dear friends during this difficult time.”
It is also believed that his death will be worked into the new series of the newly rebooted DALLAS. While he was known for his role on DALLAS, Hagman also starred in I DREAM OF JEANNIE, FAIL-SAFE and NIP/TUCK.
