DeNiro Confirms Scorsese’s ‘I Heard You Paint Houses’ Begins Production Soon – Pacino & Pesci Will Co-Star!

It’s been on the cards for a couple years now, yet we’ve heard very little of late for Martin Scorsese’s gangster biopic, I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES. The film, written by Oscar-winner Steven Zaillian, will depict the life of hitman-for-hire Frank Sheeran (nicknamed The Irishman), a man who was part of the Teamsters and confessed he was responsible for the notorious disappearance (and murder) of infamous union boss Jimmy Hoffa.

The title reflects the slang used by mobsters when setting up a contract killing and is based on the same-titled novel by Charles Brandt. In a recent interview promoting the excellent SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, Robert DeNiro confirmed he’s set to take the lead, reuniting with filmmaking icon Scorsese, with the film set for production very soon. Check out the legendary actors comments:

“We’re working on something now. We’ve been trying to get it going for a couple of years and now we’re just trying to set a time. It’s about a guy called Frank Sheeran who was in the Teamsters and claimed to have killed Jimmy Hoffa. It’s based on a book by Charles Brandt, who was Sheeran’s lawyer. I’d play Frank Sheeran and Al Pacino would play Hoffa. Joe Pesci would be in it too.”

When pressed if filming will begin next year, De Niro replied:

“It has to or we all won’t be around any more.”

It’s a weird title but we wait with intrigue for I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
