Even More ‘Star Wars’ Films Coming Your Way?

I swear, over the last few weeks the STAR WARS cinematic universe has become more confusing than a box of badgers. You may recall all of the rumours circulating around who is writing what and so forth, as well as the news that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg were on board to write EPISODES VIII and IX. Well now it is being reported that they will be writing STAR WARS films, but NOT the ones currently known as EPISODES VIII and IX. Instead they will be writing and producing their own “spin off” (for lack of a better word) movies that take place in the STAR WARS universe. This kind of makes sense after it was announced that Michael Arndt had written treatments for the whole upcoming trilogy. The move is currently being described as similar to what Marvel did with THE AVENGERS.

In the original press release video Disney CEO Robert Iger said the plan was to release a STAR WARS film every two to three years. This could mean we see even more action set in a universe far, far away. Let’s face it, the STAR WARS universe is massive; just look at the books, games, cartoons, etc. I think there are plenty of fascinating stories to tell through film, and side characters could be expanded upon with the respect they deserved and not just shoehorned in, such as Boba Fette in STAR WARS EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
